A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber
stormed a local market in Monguno town on
Sunday evening during the peak hours of trading,
killing at least twenty-eight traders and inflicting
injuries on fifty-five others, according to sources.
"They brought some dead bodies from Monguno
town by military ambulances and two other
vehicles to [the University of Maiduguri Teaching
Hospital] yesterday evening. There were about
thirty corpses and over sixty wounded,'' a nurse
at UMTH told SaharaReporters by phone.
She added, “nine gulf cars and a bus also
convoyed injured people.”
A leader of Civilian JTF, Musa Kukalumi, told
SaharaReporters that about twenty-eight people
were killed and several injured in a suicide attack
at Monguno market on Sunday.
''We learned yesterday that at least twenty-eight
people [were killed] and more than fifty-five were
critically injured by a suicide bomber targeting
the local market in Monguno town on
Sunday evening,'' Kukalumi said.
However, a source at State Specialists Hospital
in Maiduguri disclosed that they were brought
victims from the blast at Monguno market, but
asked them to go to the University Teaching
Hospital or Umoru Shehu Hospital because their
facilities are over-stretched.
Monguno is about 130 kilometers away from
Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.http://saharareporters.com/2015/09/22/suicide-bomber-killed-28-traders-local-market-borno-town
